Bill of lading template

A bill of lading template you fill in as the shipper. Download a blank PDF, or pay for a completed copy. It is not the carrier’s original bill of lading and it does not move the freight.

This bill of lading is £4.99. All three documents are £9.99. Bundle checkout is not configured yet.

Free blank template

The blank bill of lading downloads after you opt in. It is an empty form, not the paid completed PDF.

Field notes and common mistakes are below the generator. Jump to the fields.

Generator

Free preview is watermarked. A paid PDF is emailed after Stripe confirms payment. The bundle emails all three clean PDFs. No HS codes and no duty calculation.

What each field is for

BOL number and date
Your reference and the date. The carrier may issue its own number later.
Shipper, consignee and carrier
The three parties named on the bill. The carrier name is what you type, not a booking.
Freight terms
Prepaid, collect, or third party. Pick the term that matches the job.
Packages and weight
The handling units and their weight. An optional density class estimate can sit beside them. It is not an NMFC item.

Common mistakes

  • Sending this PDF to a driver as if it were the carrier’s signed original.
  • Leaving freight terms blank when the invoice depends on them.
  • Copying a freight class estimate into the bill without checking the carrier.
  • Using it as a contract of carriage. The carrier’s own bill does that job.

Questions

Is the blank bill of lading template free?

Yes, after you enter an email and consent to the newsletter. A completed bill of lading is paid on its own, or as part of the three-document bundle.

Is this a carrier bill of lading?

No. It is a shipper-prepared template. The carrier issues its own bill when it accepts the freight.
